NSW Police Service

Project life: 2 years

Project description:
The NSW Police relocated from 12 sites around Sydney into the new purpose built Police Headquarters in Parramatta.

2,200 uniformed and civilian staff relocated, as well as their complex computer systems, critical operations centres and highly sensitive records. This transition occurred over 44 individual moves from over 1 year.

MoveCorp joined the NSW Police project team 12 months prior to the first relocation. Our team consisted of a Relocation Executive and a full time Relocation Manager.

MoveCorp was contracted by the NSW Police to provide a minimal risk Relocation Strategy and plan the transition so that all removal operations were conducted within the shortest sensible time period and ensured minimal disturbance to staff in order to maintain productivity and overall business continuity.

“I would like to express my appreciation for the support and assistance MoveCorp provided the NSW Police over the last 18 months. The commitment and energy shown by your staff was a major factor in the success of the project.“

Barry Mullins, Corporate Property Project Director

Companies use the built environment as a ‘catalyst’ for supporting and enhancing their business drivers and to do this a change program is required. The effective outcome of all change is dependent on a clear understanding of the scope of the project and the management of potential issues which may impact business continuity and productivity.

Utilising a defined change methodology, MoveCorp analyses all elements of change, which may affect the success of the building project and relocation. The outcome of this analysis is a clearly defined road map or strategy which can incorporate the following factors;

  1. Organisational restructure enabled by new facility or location
  2. New workplace environment
  3. New ways of working—casual interaction/open plan/breakout space
  4. Technology changes (VoIP, MFDs, hot desk management systems, meeting room booking systems)
  5. Environmental advantages/considerations
  6. Leadership training
  7. Process and policy development
  8. Communications

MoveCorp’s change management team would prompt, coordinate and develop this vision for change with senior management.
